Newsflash

So it finally happened. After a 6-month Hiatus, I am now once again thankfully re-employed.. or will be at least, as soon as October 1 rolls around. I'll be working for Elite Valve, a local supp;ier and manufacturer of valves for mostly induatrial clients. I am quite relieved to have landed a decent job after months of searching near and far.

Went to Goderich this past weekend for some family camping and biking. I was pleasanlty surprised by the amount of trail that is maintained at Point Farms Provincial Park. Although I assume that it's primarily aimed at hikers, the trail is nicely kept generally, and there is far more than is shown on the Park map. I spent an hour and a half getting lost in it. The terrain varies from rolling plain to ups and downs as you approach the clliff at the edge of the beach  at lake Huron.  The trail is more of a network than one continuous loop, so be prepared to get lost , or 'wander' if you like that term more. Like I said, there is no map, unless you want to volounteer to make one and post it here. Be careful not to plunge headlong into a ravine at a dead end or at the cliff edge of the lake. For those who want a challenge, ther is a lengthy staircase leading down to the water, although I am not responsible for the resulting injury to either rider or any pedestrians who might laugh at your misfortunes. Also, be aware that Poison Ivy has been known to show up in this park, so I recommend pants and closed toed shoes. The best sections of trail are along the creek and cliff.

 

For  long-distance riders, I have heard that the Maitland Trail, starting in the Town of Goderich, has many more kms of scenic trail to be ridden. I haven't been on it, but there is some sort of committee that plans its upkeep, and according to the website, it is biker friendly in the interest of tourism. it is long, and winds along the Maitland river for miles, and I've heard it's pretty scenic.  check out the map:
